Turkey Cinema Festival: All Movies for 90 Lira in 75 Provinces
Cinema lovers across Turkey will have the opportunity to watch films at an affordable price during the second Turkey Cinema Festival. Scheduled for September 26-27, the event will take place in 75 provinces and bring audiences together in approximately 1,500 theaters.
Throughout the two-day festival, tickets for every film will be sold for 90 Turkish lira. Ticket sales will begin on September 21, allowing moviegoers to plan their visits in advance and choose from a broad selection of local and international productions.
The festival is being organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s General Directorate of Cinema. The Cinema Hall Investors Association, known as SİSAY, is carrying out the event with GNÇ as its main sponsor. Organizers aim to strengthen cinema culture in Turkey, support movie theaters and make the big-screen experience accessible to more people.
A festival designed for families and young audiences
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy invited citizens, especially young people and families, to participate in the event. He emphasized that cinema has a unifying power and that the festival would allow people across the country to share the excitement of watching films together.
Ersoy stated that the festival would return in its second year with a wider reach and a stronger program. According to the announcement, 17 Turkish and international films will be screened during the event. The selection is expected to appeal to different age groups and interests, ranging from family productions and animated films to action, adventure and major blockbuster releases.
Among the titles included in the program are *Avengers: Endgame*, *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, *The Odyssey* and *Toy Story 5*. The presence of well-known franchises and highly anticipated productions is expected to attract both regular moviegoers and viewers who do not frequently visit theaters.
More than 780,000 viewers attended the first festival
The first Turkey Cinema Festival was held on September 27-28, 2025. It achieved significant participation, attracting more than 780,000 viewers to cinemas across the country. This turnout demonstrated the strong public interest in affordable cultural events and the continuing importance of movie theaters as shared social spaces.
Following this success, the second edition has been expanded to reach a larger audience. The event will be held simultaneously in 75 provinces, offering moviegoers in major cities as well as smaller communities the chance to benefit from the same ticket price and festival program.
Affordable tickets aim to encourage cinema attendance
The 90-lira ticket price is intended to reduce one of the main barriers preventing people from going to the cinema. Rising household expenses have made cultural activities more difficult for many families, while a cinema visit can become costly when ticket prices, transportation and refreshments are considered together.
By offering all films at a fixed and reduced price for two days, the festival is expected to encourage families, students and young viewers to return to theaters. The campaign also gives audiences the opportunity to watch more than one film without facing the usual financial burden.
The event may be especially attractive to families with children. Animated productions and family-oriented films provide an option for parents looking for an affordable weekend activity. Older children and teenagers, meanwhile, can choose from superhero films, action productions and large-scale international releases.
Support for movie theaters and the film industry
The festival is not limited to offering discounted tickets. It also seeks to draw attention to the role of cinemas in the cultural and creative industries. A movie watched on a large screen, with professional sound and image quality, offers a different experience from viewing the same content at home.
Organizers underline that cinema is not merely digital content. It is a collective cultural activity experienced in a dark theater and shared with other viewers. The laughter, reactions and excitement of the audience contribute to the atmosphere and distinguish the theater experience from individual home viewing.
Increased attendance during the festival may provide direct support to cinema operators. Higher visitor numbers can help theaters maintain their operations, employ staff and continue investing in screening technology and audience services.
What viewers should know before buying tickets
Those planning to attend should check the showtimes and participating theaters before visiting. Although the festival will cover 75 provinces and approximately 1,500 screens, individual venues may have different schedules and film selections.
Because interest is expected to be high, popular sessions may sell out quickly. Viewers who want to watch a specific title or attend an evening screening should consider purchasing tickets as soon as sales open on September 21.
It is also advisable to compare screening times carefully, particularly for families and groups attending more than one film. The 90-lira price applies during the festival dates, September 26 and 27, while regular ticket conditions may apply outside this period.
A nationwide celebration of cinema
The Turkey Cinema Festival aims to turn the final weekend of September into a nationwide celebration of the big screen. With its broad geographic reach, affordable ticket policy and varied program, the event is designed to appeal to both devoted cinema fans and occasional viewers.
Audiences will be able to enjoy films in a shared environment, discover new productions and revisit popular characters on a large screen. The festival also offers an opportunity for people who have postponed cinema visits because of rising costs to return to theaters.
With 17 domestic and international films, participation from approximately 1,500 theaters and a uniform ticket price of 90 lira, the event is expected to become one of the most accessible cinema campaigns of the year. Moviegoers across Turkey will be invited to experience the atmosphere of the theater together on September 26-27.
