Beşiktaş Sign 18-Year-Old Belarusian Midfielder Zakhar Drachev

Beşiktaş have added teenage midfielder Zakhar Drachev to their squad, bringing in the 18-year-old from Belarusian side FC Minsk. The Belarus youth international is regarded as a young prospect, although his career has already included a controversial departure from his former club.

Drachev came through FC Minsk’s academy and represented the club at both senior and Under-19 level. His exit, however, was far from straightforward. Belarusian reports said he left the club without informing officials on the eve of a league match against Dinamo Minsk in July.

FC Minsk later announced that Drachev had been removed from the team after missing training and other duties without what the club considered a valid reason. The midfielder and the club parted ways the following month.

Since August 11, Drachev had been without a club. His arrival at Beşiktaş gives the young player an opportunity to continue his development at a new team, while the Turkish side add a promising option to their midfield ranks.

Drachev’s record at FC Minsk

The available figures reflect two different stages of the teenager’s career. Drachev made 18 appearances for FC Minsk’s first team but did not register a goal or an assist. His stronger attacking return came with the club’s Under-19 side, where he scored four goals and provided three assists in 24 matches.

Those youth-level numbers suggest he was able to contribute in the final third, but they do not, by themselves, establish how quickly he will adapt to senior football in Turkey. His first-team record remains limited, making regular development and playing time important factors in the next phase of his career.

Drachev has also featured for Belarus’s Under-19 national team. International youth experience can help a young player adjust to a more demanding environment, though his progress at Beşiktaş will ultimately depend on his performances in training and matches.

What the transfer means for Beşiktaş

The signing is a move focused on potential rather than a proven record of senior-level production. At 18, Drachev has time to grow physically and tactically, learn the demands of a new league and compete for a place in the team. For Beşiktaş, bringing in a young midfielder may offer a chance to strengthen the squad while investing in a player who could develop over time.

No details have been provided about the length of Drachev’s contract, the transfer fee or the club’s plans for his immediate role. It is therefore unclear whether he will be considered for the first team straight away or initially given time to settle into the club’s development structure.

A transition to a new country can involve more than adapting to the pace of football. Drachev will also need to become familiar with his teammates, the coaching staff’s expectations and the tactical demands of Turkish competition. For a player who has recently left his previous club under difficult circumstances, stability and a clear plan could be especially valuable.

His next step will be to turn the promise shown at youth level into consistent performances against senior opponents. The four goals and three assists he recorded for FC Minsk’s Under-19 team provide an indication of his attacking contribution, while his lack of first-team goal involvement highlights the challenge ahead.

For now, Drachev’s move gives both the player and Beşiktaş an opportunity to build a new chapter. The midfielder arrives with youth international experience and encouraging academy statistics, but his impact will be judged by how he develops and what he contributes on the pitch.
